4 in 1 Unified Portal for Church Leadership
Redesigning mission-critical forms for usability and clarity
The RMP and MSP are two of the most used tools in the ELCA’s call process—used by congregations searching for leaders, rostered ministers exploring new calls, and synod staff managing matches. In 2024, I led foundational usability research for these forms, followed by the design of a digital prototype for a unified platform in 2025 to address long-standing pain points across user groups.

🛠️ What I did - User Research Lead: Designed and moderated qualitative usability testing sessions across 3 core user types (congregation leaders, rostered ministers, synod staff) - Synthesis & Reporting: Authored the RMP/MSP insights report, shared with the cross-functional working group to guide improvements - UX/UI Design: Translated findings into screen layouts and structural flows within the Umbraco-based web platform, collaborating with ELCA IT and project leads 🧪 Insights uncovered Across 17+ pages of longform content, we found consistent friction points, including: - 🔐 Login issues, unclear tech support access, and frequent timeouts - 🧭 Difficult navigation with little sense of progress or save status - 😕 Ambiguity about form audiences (“Who sees what?”), especially in sensitive sections - 💬 Text-heavy input fields with unclear expectations and restrictive word limits
💡 Impact - Informed feature updates like autosave, clearer audience cues, and easier form sharing - Helped shift the internal conversation toward user roles and real-life workflows - Created wireframes with consistent visual patterns and reduced cognitive load - Supporting ELCA’s transition to a centralized, intuitive call process platform
